David Murphy’s job is to get people interested. He’s had no trouble so far. Murphy, a senior vice president with CBRE Group Inc. in Orlando, is leading marketing efforts for the Central Florida Intermodal Logistics Center, the upcoming industrial park being created next to the CSX distribution facility that opened in April. While his team has been in discussion with the developer, Winter Haven Industrial Investors, for some time, Murphy said, they are just beginning their marketing work with efforts expected to be ramped up over the next few weeks. Winter Haven Industrial Investors LLC includes GEM Capital Realty of Chicago as the financial investor, CLAYCO Inc. as the project construction firm and George Stock & Associates as the project engineer. So far, companies have been reaching out to him with interest, instead of the other way around. “We’ve been pleasantly surprised with the amount of activity,” Murphy said. “People have been coming to us, before we could even get the calls out. A lot of people recognize the value of the intermodal facility.” Winter Haven Industrial Investors envisions building 8 million square feet of industrial park space and investing $400 million into the project.
