Born and raised in Winter Haven, Florida, Kerry Wilson graduated summa cum laude from Duke University in 1976 and cum laude from Washington & Lee University Law School in 1981. He began his career as an attorney with Holland & Knight LLP and began working with the Polk County law firm of Peterson & Myers, P.A., in 1986, where he served as a shareholder until June 2013.
During his legal career, Mr. Wilson specialized in real estate, commercial transactions and secured lending. He also served as general counsel for the Polk County Housing Finance Authority, the Polk County Industrial Development Authority and the Lake Region Lakes Management District. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Citrus Center Boys & Girls Clubs, Inc., since 1989 and as President of that organization for three terms during that period.
He was a founding director and serves as President of Speak Up for Children in the Tenth Judicial Circuit, Inc. He is past President and board member of Main Street Winter Haven, Inc., and currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Polk Museum of Art, and on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Central Florida.
